The recent AKC Black Gold – Gold Medal Championship in Eufaula, Alabama provided the opportunity to honor the 2009 Black Gold – Gold Medal National Leader, CNC Soco’s X-Rated Freak.

I spoke with Freak’s owner, Kevin Bigford of Florence, South Carolina about his dog. Freak is a four year old Treeing Walker male that was sired by Stylish Harry’s Freak Show and is out of an X-Jr. female. Kevin bought the pup when he was three months old from a fellow in northern Alabama. Freak started at eleven months old. He has a huge mouth and is a hard tree dog. Kevin said he was battling a sinus condition last weekend and could hear out of only one ear. He said, “I had absolutely no trouble hearing Freak.” Freak won his cast in the first round of competition at the Black Gold – Gold Medal Championship on Thursday night.

I asked Kevin if the dog had been bred and he told me one time but there were only two pups in the litter and he doesn’t have a clue where they are or how they are doing.

Freak is entered in the 2010 AKC World Coonhound Championship in Orangeburg, South Carolina this month.
